12 dicembre Fast recovery, family timeI'm happy to report that my ankle recovered very quickly and I returned to my normal walk by Monday morning before meeting my parents. There's still swelling and a nice little bruise has developed but I'm going well, despite the large amount of walking we've been doing these last 2 days. Mum and Dad are enjoying their stay and I'm keeping busy all day taking them places and showing them around. They're enjoying the unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing since their arrival and they also marvel at the fantastic Octopus Card. Check out Wikipedia for those who don't know. Yesterday we did the TST waterfront, chinese arts shopping and general Tsim Sha Tsui bits and pieces including some back streets and a Mango Sago drink for Dad which he really loves! Then in the afternoon, Jazz and Mum had some girl time in Mongkok whilst Dad and I went for some manly tech time at the Golden Arcade of Sham Shui Po. Dad was getting excited about a lot of networking stuff like stuff that puts internet through your home's electricity circuit. I've got a big list of notes and shall return later to buy electronics. We met up with the girls for more shoppnig then Hot Pot for dinner, a new experience for my parents.
Today has been more Hong Kong Island stuff with visits to the IFC (largest building in HK), ride on the Star Ferry, the mid-levels escalator, botanical and zoological gardens, market shopping, dried fish markets in Sheung Wan then back to Mongkok for a bit more shopping. This evening we visited Jasmine's Uni, CUHK, for a tour of her lab facilities by her Profesor, Dr Kwan. Then a great value dinner at the United College staff restaurant- AU$30 for all 4 of us! Tomorrow is free-museum-day in HK so we're hitting the History Museum to start with and having dinner with Grace and Samuel in a great restaurant overlooking the Harbour. Thursday we're seeing Stef and Dickson for lunch. Still planning to visit the Peak and probably Stanley too. I think Mum and Dad will come up with smoe other places they're interested in too.
